1) Journal Club Chapter: Journal Club meetings occur every two weeks and are exclusive to the members of the MSAB. The Journal Club Chapter is a division that aims to (1) Help students build a habit and passion for reading articles, (2) Teach them how to read and critically analyze scientific information, (3) Encourage and develop their clinical reasoning, and (4) Give them the opportunity to present to an international community.

2) Social Media Chapter: As the name implies, this chapter focuses on social media content creation and development. In this chapter, students contribute with ideas and projects to help build and fortify the journal’s public image and online presence on social platforms, namely Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. Through content creation, they also learn about research, develop their communication and teamwork skills, and interact with students from all over the world. They additionally delve into the social media world from a business aspect and branding, as well as learn about tools and rules, which can come in useful in their future careers as Medical Doctors. Students join the Social Media Chapter for different motives, aspirations and from different backgrounds, yet all work and contribute for one purpose, which is “to affirm IJCR’s identity by presenting it to the public eye in the most suitable image, one which conforms with the vision it wishes to spread through social platforms to all corners of the world”.

3) Writing Skills Chapter in collaboration with IJCR Intersect: Students in the MSAB are given the chance to apply to IJCR Intersect and write articles at the intersect of medicine and other fields. These articles will be edited by the directors of IJCR Intersect and the students will be guided on how to improve their writing skills. Once accepted, the International Journal of Clinical Research will offer its platform to publish these articles as part of a separate issue of the journal.

4) IJCR Webinar Series: This Webinar Series is a division of IJCR that invites the world’s premier experts in their respective fields to discuss their work for 40 minutes and inspire the next generation of students to engage in research through virtual international webinars.

This Webinar Series is divided into:

i. Pioneers in Medicine which hosts speakers who have changed the face of medicine and those who are Nobel-worthy.

ii. Future Leaders which hosts speakers who are in their early career and who are doing innovative work with the potential to become Dept chairs & Pioneers in Medicine in the future.

In this chapter, students will not only attend the webinars but also help in organizing them and get the chance to meet and potentially build connections with inspirational pioneers in medicine.

5) USMLE Study Groups: In this chapter, students will have the chance to engage with each other and exchange knowledge through tutorship sessions covering all the material in the USMLE examinations. The chapter also aims to provide mentorship opportunities to its members via collaborations with external stakeholders such as US-matched residents, program directors, and medical learning platforms (ex: Amboss). The chapter will additionally provide mental health support to any member embarking on this daunting journey of securing a US Medical Licensure. The USMLE is a division that aims to: (1) Fortify the members’ medical knowledge, and (2) Provide the members with the technical and emotional support needed to pass/ace the USMLE tests.

6) Digital Health Chapter: In this chapter, MSAB members learn about artificial intelligence (AI) and its application in medicine. We organize events and webinars to promote and educate the medical community about digital health advances, importance, and applications. The Digital Health Chapter is a division that aims to: (1) Build a platform that disseminates knowledge about the newest updates in AI in the form of articles, digital content, and webinars (2) Raise awareness about the importance of digital health applications in the medical field (3) Prepare medical students and doctors for the implementation of AI in Medicine (4) Build a community of people interested in digital health.

7) Growth and Development Chapter: In this chapter, students organize and facilitate workshops, activities and training sessions. It is divided into two sections:

i. Workshops which are tailored to help MSAB members strengthen their skills and build their capacities, and provide them with tools that could be useful in their education, career, community and personal sphere.

ii. Community-Building Activities which allow MSAB members from all around the world to get to know and interact with each other. The aim is to promote team bonding and build a safe environment where members of our growing IJCR community can comfortably work together.

9) Applied Research Skills Course (ARSC) Chapter: In this chapter, students help organize the ARSC, a course that is offered to all the MSAB community. ARSC is designed by Professor Cristina Pires Camargo to be an immersion experience into the different aspects of clinical research and publication. The main aim behind the course is to provide students with the building blocks of research, as well as to deliver an applied research experience in the form of activities, assignments, drafting, and submitting a research paper. It consists of (1) modules prepared by senior editors of IJCR, (2) live sessions held by internationally-acclaimed researchers, and (3) hands-on research experience.

The goal is to aid students in becoming well-rounded individuals who will be competitive in applying to residencies and research positions globally.

Applied Research Skills aims to teach and engage students in the steps towards the final publication of their research projects. Students will be exposed to a 3-month curriculum with hands-on experiences from selecting a topic, obtaining mentorship, and manuscript writing, to finally optimizing their manuscript for submission. Students will be separated into small research working groups with their assigned advisors who will guide them throughout the course.
